Credit Scores Creeping Up

I neglected to mention that I ordered an Equifax credit report for my wife and myself last month. I had meant to run our credit reports more often, but have totally neglected this. Thankfully, the reports came back without any issues.

I also ordered our credit scores. Mine was 780 and my wife's was 764. We have been able to steadily increase our scores to the current level (click on the tables below to see our current and previous scores). The only reason my wife's score is lower than mine is because she does not have enough credit history.

I hope to run our reports with the Experian and TransUnion in the next 6-8 months.

Nice work in increasing your scores. What do you attribute to the steady increase?

I think the greatest impact came from paying down our debt and disputing an incorrect negative item on my report.

I found a site the other day called www.CreditKarma.com where you can pull your credit scores for free. No strings attached, if you chose. You might like to check it out.

And you're scores are great! Congrats.

You may want to check out Credit Karma. You can get your estimated credit score for free without paying. Not a bad deal IMO.

Wow great work on your credit score for you and the lady! I have not checked my score in a few years, mainly because I want to clear off my CC debt and then wait a few months to get a good idea of where I stand. The problem is it is taking me a little longer to pay off this darn CC debt!

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Doctor S - You may want to consider checking your report to ensure there are no issues. That stuff can take a long time to clear up.

J. Money - I'm going to try to get better at checking more often, but you're right, easier said than done.

Hi people all of you have really written well. But is any of you aware of this website CreditMagic Community where there is a detailed information on credit scores in a very simple and easy to understand format. The main advantage of the site is that it review your reports from all three credit bureaus for accuracy once a year as well as several months before applying for a loan. A heavily weighted factor in your FICO Score is how much money you owe on your credit cards relative to your total credit limit. Generally, it’s good to keep your balances at or below 25 percent of your credit card limit.
